"Glenn McCarthy, a federally convicted union fraudster, and Joseph Pasqualone, a disgraced Teamster trustee" have financial interests in the Centerbrook Farm in upstate New York according to an article by Murray Weiss for the New York Post, and allegedly had their sights on acquiring a neighboring farm to add to their property portfolio:
The men . . . had their sights set on another property, so they arranged a 2000 sit-down with its owner, Gus Schoenborn Jr. "We are not here to ask what you want," said McCarthy, a barrel-shaped, track-suit-wearing Genovese crime-family associate. "We're going to tell you what we're going to pay for your farm." Schoenborn still shakes his head recalling the strong-arm tactics used in 2000 by the duo.
Weiss provides the back story on McCarthy and Pasqualone:
On FBI tapes in another case, McCarthy bragged about his close relations with Genovese acting boss Dominic "Quiet Dom" Cirillo and underboss Venero "Benny Eggs" Mangano -- and talked about his farm south of Albany, sources said. McCarthy's father, Jack, had been convicted four times for labor racketeering and was considered the Genoveses' labor guru. Federal agents -- accustomed to hearing mobsters talk about going to bet on horses -- were now surprised to hear Glenn McCarthy might own a horse farm. * * * McCarthy pleaded guilty to labor conspiracy in May 2002 and was sentenced to 18 months. Pasqualone's trouble with the law included a Manhattan federal judge booting him from Teamsters Local 966 in 1998 amid allegations that he helped co-opt it for the benefit of McCarthy, his family and friends.
