Devron Quast was sentenced to 75 months prison time yesterday in a federal district court in Seattle, Washington following his guilty plea in a drug trafficking ring allegedly tied to a Hells Angels chapter in British Columbia which transported cocaine into Canada and marijuana into the United States as reported by Kim Bolan for The Vancouver Sun:
Devron Quast, 40, got a break from the mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years when he was handed 75 months behind bars, followed by five years of supervised release. Quast pleaded guilty last November to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana and money-laundering. His sentencing had been delayed several times in recent months.
The sentencing memo for Quast which presumably explains the lenient departure from the mandatory minimum is filed under seal, and the investigation continues with charges likely to be filed against additional suspects. Kim Bolan reported for The Vancouver Sun earlier this week that "Quast cooperated with the U.S. Attorney in implicating others in the ring," and "Quast told Judge Lasnik in March that Vancouver Hells Angel Hal Porteous had intervened for the drug organization when a customer was angry that a pot shipment had been seized in the U.S."
