In Italy the police have busted 19 Cosa Nostra or Sicilian Mafia suspects "including Salvatore Messina Denaro the brother of the Cosa Nostra's alleged 'boss of bosses,' Matteo Messina Denaro" as reported by Independent Online:
More than 200 police were deployed in morning raids in and around the western Sicilian town of Trapani in what officials said was an operation targeting some of the closest associates of Matteo Messina Denaro, who is a fugitive. "What was identified and dismantled was to all intents and purposes a 'postal service'," police official Vincenzo Nicoli told television channel Sky TG24. Those arrested, including Salvatore Messina Denaro, are believed to have run a network distributing "pizzini" or small written messages containing their boss's orders.
Having dismantled the alleged communications network for the "boss of bosses," Italian authorities are confident that they are one step closer to apprehending the fugitive Matteo Messina Denaro as reported by Ella Ide for Reuters:
Interior Minister Roberto Maroni said the latest arrests were the result of one of the most important police operations of the last decade, greatly increasing the chances of catching Messina Denaro. "We have dismantled the postal system of the most dangerous boss," said Maroni in a statement. "The net is closing in on him and I'm optimistic we'll be able to capture him soon." Detectives believe the crime boss is hiding out close to his family home at Castelvetrano, near Trapani, and is moving between safe houses.
