The inexplicable phenomena of obsequious Hollywood stars fawning over reputed mobsters continues. Among those arrested in last Thursday's record raid was Andrew "Andy Mush" Russo, and it didn't take long for actors James Caan and Federico Castelluccio to crawl out from under their rocks to show support for the Colombo acting street boss who is accused in the 1993 murder of underboss Joseph Scopo as reported by John Marzulli for the Daily News: "A letter of support from Godfather actor James Caan -- and a cameo appearance by Furio from The Sopranos -- couldn't persuade a judge Tuesday to release [the] Colombo crime boss on bail."

Meanwhile, on an unrelated note, John Travolta may be playing John Gotti in an upcoming Nick Cassavetes-directed film about the late Gambino boss, and James Franco has been approached to play the daddy worshipping Junior as reported by Rich Schapiro for the Daily News.
