Trial begins today in a Manhattan federal courthouse against Arthur "Artie" Nigro, the reputed former acting Genovese boss, and brothers Freddy and Ty Geas for their alleged roles in the 2003 hit on Adolfo "Big Al" Bruno who was the family capo in Springfield, MA as reported by Stephanie Barry for The Republican. Frankie Roche, the admitted triggerman in the Bruno slaying, alleges that he was paid $10,000 by Freddy Geas for the job.
Among those the government has lined up to testify are flipped reputed gangsters Anthony "Bingy" Arillotta, Felix Tranghese and Mitchell Weissman.
Apparently, the Genovese no longer are one big happy family, and the string of turncoats suggests the feds may have gotten the break it's long needed to make an imminent major strike against the crime family beyond the Bruno slaying.
