Police have arrested twelve suspects in Italy's northwest Liguria region for their alleged association with the 'Ndrangheta or Calabrian Mafia as reported by Adnkronos. The 'Ndrangheta increasingly has been infesting Italy's wealthier northern regions where it largely puchases businesses and property through which to launder its dirty cash from the European cocaine trade. Today's raid "followed a probe during which investigators uncovered extensive links between the 'Ndrangheta's Ligurian branch and that in the neighboring Piedmont region, where last week 19 Calabrian Mafia suspects were arrested."
