Gilles Doré, a criminal defense lawyer who in the past has represented alleged organized crime defendants including Hells Angels bikers, was viciously assaulted outside his home last Friday in Montreal, QB Canada as reported by Paul Cherry for The Gazette: "investigators have no description of the person, or people, who attacked the victim" but they "hope to be able to talk to the victim when he recovers."
Representing accused criminals can be a risky business.
In July 1987 legal eagle Barry Slotnick physically was attacked on a New York City sidewalk, and some speculated that it was ordered by John Gotti who had an issue over fees as reported by New York Magazine. The Gambino boss once was captured on a federal wiretap kvetching that lawyers are "overpriced, overpaid and under-performed."
