Italian authorities have arrested a cop, a judge and a politician in a sweep this morning against the 'Ndrangheta or Calabrian Mafia as reported by Monsters & Critics. The judge, Magistrate Vincenzo Giuseppe Giglio, is "head of the crime prevention department of the Reggio Calabria court," and he is accused of "providing information about police activity to the mafia" as reported by UPI. Another judge "based in Palmi, an 'ndrangheta stronghold, is being investigated for suspected corruption in carrying out judicial duties, but was not among those arrested, the prosecutors said" as reported by The Associated Press.
Let's say it one more time with conviction: organized crime cannot exist without public corruption.
