Hackers like to think they're anonymous but often they're not.
A Yahoo email account used by yours truly was hacked on June 12, 2011 at 4:48 pm from a location in California, and I know because the login records tell me so. By the way, the login records also provide the associated IP address for that CA location, and a timely evidence preservation directive was issued to Yahoo. Did the hacker really think that I would not report the incident to the appropriate law enforcement authorities, and that no one has been watching?
Curiously, another account which I maintain with an online forum was hacked just yesterday.
To my hacker: your new year may not be as happy as you may have hoped.
