Luigi "Baby Shacks" Manocchio, the reputed former boss of the Patriarca crime family, and four co-defendants have pleaded guilty for their roles in shaking down jiggle joints in Providence, RI as reported by Martin Finucane for The Boston Globe.
The other four are Edward "Leddy" Lato and Alfred "Chippy" Scivola who admitted to being made members of the New England Mafia pursuant to their plea agreements, and Richard Bonafiglia and Raymond R. Jenkins.
The "five defendants face up to 20 years in prison" but "the deal with Manocchio states he cannot appeal the sentence if it falls between '63 and 78 months'" as reported by Tim White for WPRI.
The extortion payments "go back to the early 1990s and prosecutors say they exceeded $800,000" as reported by W. Zachary Malinowski for the Providence Journal.
Two other defendants -- Theodore Cardillo and Albino "Albie" Folcarelli -- face an April 23 trial for their alleged roles in the racket.
An eighth defendant, Thomas Iafrate, pleaded guilty last July, and was sentenced to thirty months which he began serving last Monday.

Wow you mean we finally have a Mob case coming to a close without any rats?? Could it be only because there are no murders in the indictment? Still, it's impressive in today's American Mob world.
