You can always count on the mob to exploit a tragedy.
When the cruise ship Costa Concordia wrecked off a Tuscan island last month a treasure trove was left aboard, and "it could just be a matter of time before anyone from common thieves to underwater teams run by the Mafia and specialising in recovering booty try to steal it" as reported by The Telegraph.

I have to agree with some of the comments on the article. No matter how much you disapprove of Mob activities, you gotta admit the possible involvement of Italian gangsters makes the story a lot more interesting.
I'm not sure the Mafia would mess with something as hot and attention-grabbing as the Costa Concordia, but hey anything is possible.
