For months mob watchers have openly speculated that reputed Patriarca capo Robert DeLuca has been playing for Team America, and his possible work as a federal informant now may be surfacing in a racketeering case against the crime family as reported by Tim White for WPRI: a "motion is asking the courts to remove three secretly recorded conversations between reputed capo regime Edward 'Eddy' Lato and the cooperating witnesses 'RD.'"
The case alleges Patriarca mobsters shook down strip clubs and other business owners in Providence, RI, and several defendants, including Lato and reputed former boss Luigi "Baby Shacks" Manocchio, already have pled guilty. Two remaining defendants -- Theodore Cardillo and Albino "Albie" Folcarelli -- are awaiting trial.
Meanwhile, DeLuca reportedly will appear for the feds at the upcoming trial of former Winter Hill mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger.
