Police in Jerusalem, Israel have arrested five suspected members of the Abergil crime family for their alleged roles in a plot to rough up a supposed deadbeat who owed them money as reported by Melanie Lidman for the The Jerusalem Post.
The Abergil clan allegedly is headed by brothers Yitzhak and Meir Abergil who were extradited in January 2011 from the Promised Land to the United States to face racketeering charges involving ecstasy trafficking, money laundering and murder. The Israeli Mafia is among the principal traffickers in ecstasy which is a favorite among the club kids.
Meir Abergil entered a plea agreement with U.S. prosecutors last August pursuant to which he admitted extorting a million bucks from another reputed mob figure, and he promptly took a plane back to Israel. Yitzhak remains in a California jail awaiting trial, and if convicted will serve any sentence in Israel.
