Former Irish mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger will take the stand in his own defense at his racketeering trial involving 19 murders to testify about the immunity deal he received as an FBI informant against the Patriarca family as reported by Denise Lavoie for The Associated Press.
Defense attorney J.W. Carney Jr. said "they (the feds) don't want the evidence to come out" but Bulger "is in the best position to talk about how the federal government acted because he was dealing with the people directly" as reported by Laurel J. Sweet for the Boston Herald.
