California authorities have rounded up 67 suspected gangbangers throughout San Bernardino County who allegedly "were involved in crimes ranging from theft and drugs to murder" in servicing the Mexican Mafia as reported by KNBC: "'Armed robberies, carjackings, murder, assault with weapons, narcotics sales. This has been going on for decades,' said Fontana police Sgt. Kevin Goltara."
Five gunmen posing as police officers celebrated fashion week by robbing Kim Kardashian of jewelry worth $10 million at a Paris hotel as reported by the New York Post: "Kardashian was staying behind the city’s Madeleine church in an exclusive building with several secret entrances where celebrities pay up to $17,000 a night." Street gangs increasingly are terrorizing the good people of Little Havana in Miami, FL, and last week federal prosecutors variously charged 17 suspected members from Big Money Team "with armed robberies, assaults and car jackings" as reported by Jay Weaver for the Miami Herald: "Miami Police Chief Manuel Orosa told the Herald . . . that over the years young street gangs like the Big Money Team have moved into the historic Cuban exile community to sell drugs, generating complaints among longtime residents and businesses." Law enforcement has not yet cracked "a syndicate based in South Florida, many of them Cuban" which is suspected of cargo thefts across the United States as reported by Daniel Grushkin for Businessweek.
