Obama will be known as the "Other People's Money" president. In his latest bid to bankrupt the country, Obama is urging Congress to print an additional $50 billion that will be financed on the debt-burdened backs of the American people saying the money is needed to avoid "massive layoffs of teachers, police and firefighters" as reported by Lori Montgomery for The Washington Post. However, these "teachers, police and firefighters" who purportedly will lose their jobs unless Uncle Sam (i.e., you and me) underwrites them, are local government employees, and their own communities are entirely capable of addressing the payroll issue through lower spending or higher taxes. If the local communities do not believe the affected jobs are worth saving by coughing up the additional money or sacrificing other budget items, then why is Obama insisting that taxpayers from elsewhere in the country step in to subsidize them? If local government now is to be financed by other people's money, local government no longer exists.
