Gambino capo Nicholas Corozzo has been sentenced to 13 years following his guilty plea last year to ordering the 1996 murder of Luchese associate Robert Arena according to a report by Kati Cornell from the New York Post. Arena was ambushed in his car while driving through Brooklyn's Mill Basin neighborhood by a hail of buIlets from a mob hit squad which also fatally nailed Thomas Maranga who was a passenger but with no organized crime involvement. According to the FBI: "Corozzo ordered the murder of Arena in retaliation for Arena's failure to return marijuana he had robbed from a narcotics dealer and for Arena's suspected participation in the murder of a Corozzo crew member." John Marzulli from the Daily News writes:
Corozzo showed no reaction to the sentence, but his daughter Donna Paolino burst into tears. The gangster kissed his nephew Joseph Corozzo - the crime family's reputed "house counsel" - on the cheek as he left the courtroom.
